Description
The Jawhar Checkerboard 2×2 Zellige Tile features a deep green tone inspired by lush Moroccan landscapes, paired with a soft off-white contrast that highlights the authentic, handcrafted nature of traditional zellige. The green glaze carries subtle depth and natural variation, shifting slightly under light to reveal rich mineral character, while the off-white tiles provide balance and visual clarity. Each piece is handmade, with gentle surface movement, organic glaze pooling, and softly irregular edges that make every installation unique.
This classic checkerboard layout creates rhythm and structure while remaining timeless and versatile. The deep green shade brings a sense of calm and richness, making Jawhar suitable for both traditional Moroccan interiors and contemporary spaces seeking warmth, contrast, and artisanal detail. As with all genuine zellige, slight color variations and texture differences are part of its charm and should be expected.
Jawhar zellige tiles are suitable for residential and commercial applications, including high-traffic interior floors such as kitchens, primary bathrooms, and entryways, as well as low-traffic areas like guest bathrooms and bedrooms. They are also ideal for interior walls, including kitchen backsplashes, bathroom walls, and decorative feature walls, where the checkerboard pattern adds depth and visual interest.
For more demanding environments, Jawhar can be used on shower walls and floors, including steam showers, and is suitable for pools and spas, whether saltwater or chlorine. The tile is compatible with radiant heated floor systems and may be installed around fireplace surrounds, excluding the interior firebox. For exterior applications, Jawhar is suitable for exterior walls and outdoor floors in non-freeze climates.
